We are always striving to do better. We take quality very seriously and added ISO 9001 certification to our manufacturing just last summer. This is in addition to the PTM certifications on all our gluten testing kits and our ISO 17025 accreditation for our laboratory testing. Did I mention we take quality very seriously?
As part of that commitment, we are always looking for risks and ways to improve. Last year, some of you told us that the seals on our foil pouches were not as smooth as they had been in the past. Since every part of our process is done in-house, we took that to heart and sought to improve upon that feedback. In response, we replaced some product and shifted to an impact sealers as we made plans for a more permanent solution. That solution is here and we’re transitioning over to a new band sealer that we hope will give a more consistent seal without slowing down our production.
Why are we bothering to highlight this seemingly minor change? That’s because we now have the option of embossing our seals with the lot information when we seal the pouches instead of having to print it beforehand. Some of those newly embossed foils are shipping out in kits this week. All the foils being packed right now have the same 3/8″ seal, but some of you will start receiving foils with embossed lot information. There’s no change to the strips or the who or where of our manufacturing and packaging (that’s all still all happening by us in-house). What this does mean is that the seals and lot numbers will look a little different and we have even more confidence in the quality of our product through the expiration date.
